Beyond Blue

Crisis Support Services Inc

CSS is an independent, not-for-profit, non-government organisation with no religious affiliations that provides the specialist telephone counselling lines: Mensline Australia and Suicide Helpline - Victoria. We also provide a number of national, specialist services for the Child Support Agency, a dedicated line for men working at Australia Post and a range of telephone-based, employee assistance style services. We are the most experienced provider of telephone counselling in Australia, operating for over 40 years. We employ a team of professionally qualified counsellors and psychologists who provide confidential counselling, support, information and referral services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the cost of a local call. Crisis Support Services Inc. also uses its skills and expertise in men, family, relationships, separation and suicide prevention to create tailored training, counselling and consultancy products for use in the workplace, government and the community.

Lifeline

Lifeline was founded in 1963 by the late Reverend Dr Sir Alan Walker, after he received a call by a distressed man, who three days later took his own life. Determined not to let loneliness, isolation or anxiety be the cause of other deaths, Sir Alan launched a crisis line, which operated out of the Methodist Central Mission in Sydney. Today, somewhere in Australia, there is a new call to Lifeline every minute and an average of over 450,000 calls are answered each year. We have also expanded our operations to include a number of programs that promote mental health, wellbeing and help seeking behaviours. Lifeline is part of an international network, and through its affiliation with LifeLine International has Centres in nineteen countries. Lifeline is also a member of theVolunteer Emotional Support Helplines (VESH) network. This network of Volunteer Helplines provides services in 61 countries around the world.

SANE Australia

SANE Australia is a national charity working for a better life for people affected by mental illness through: Campaigns SANE campaigns for improved services for, and attitudes towards, people affected by mental illness. As well as ongoing advocacy for improved services, SANE lobbies on specific issues such as the effect of welfare reform and drug strategies on the lives of people with a mental illness. Education SANE promotes understanding of mental illness through an award-winning range of education products and services for those affected, their family and friends, health professionals and the general community. SANE's StigmaWatch program monitors and pursues stigma against people with a mental illness in the media. The SANE Mind and Body Initiative focuses on treatment and support for the whole person: promoting better physical health for people with a mental illness, and better mental health for people with physical health conditions. The SANE Mental Illness and Bereavement Initiative focuses on improving the coping ability of family and friends when someone with a mental illness dies by suicide or goes missing.
