Violence Against Women

White Ribbon Day
http://www.whiteribbonday.org.au/

The White Ribbon Foundation of Australia aims to eliminate violence against women by promoting culture-change around the issue. The major strategies to achieve this are a national media campaign as well as education & male leadership programmes aimed at men and boys around Australia. All funds received by the White Ribbon Foundation will support the implementation of these strategies.

Rape Crisis
http://www.nswrapecrisis.com.au

NSW Rape Crisis is a state-wide twenty four hour telephone and online crisis, support and referral service for women who have experienced sexual violence. The Centre is committed to upholding the rights of women to live in a socially just, equitable and non violent society. Counsellors work in partnership with women to expand their choices, facilitate healing and encourage personal growth.

Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program
http://www.legalaid.nsw.gov.au/asp/index.asp?pgid=597

The aim of the WDVCAP is to assist women and children who are experiencing domestic violence to obtain legal protection through Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVOs) and access support services that can assist them with their other needs (for example, financial assistance and advice, housing, emotional support and counselling and family law issues).

Date Rape
http://www.aboutdaterape.nsw.gov.au

Date rape is when someone you know socially (but not family) makes you have sex when you don't want to. It could be someone you meet at a party, or someone you love and trust, like your boyfriend. They might use physical and verbal threats, emotional blackmail, or alcohol and drugs to force or trick you into having sex. It's not just sexual intercourse, it can be oral sex or some other kind of sex. You may even agree to have sex with someone and then decide that you want to stop, but they force you to keep going. Date rape can happen to women of all ages but young women between 15 and 24 are at highest risk. While it's mostly women who are raped, guys can be victims of date rape too. And, as with female victims, guys are usually assaulted by other men.

Victorian Centres Against Sexual Assault
http://www.casa.org.au

The Victorian CASA Forum Inc is the peak body of the 15 Centres Against Sexual Assault, and the Victorian Sexual Assault Crisis Line (after hours). Together they work to ensure that women, children and men who are victim/survivors of sexual assault have access to comprehensive and timely support and intervention to address their needs. They also work towards the elimination of sexual violence through community and professional education, informing government policy, advocating for law reform and facilitating research to increase community understanding of the nature and incidence of sexual assault.
